12 Essential new features of Office 12

In the mid of year 2006, the final version of Office 12 was scheduled.. Even though Microsoft has not yet confirmed on the features, the major area of focus was to change the productivity, enabling it to handle business information, to manage documents and to improve the user-friendly approach.

1. All the applications like Word, Excel, and Power Point are given a new appearance. The spanking user interface has a ribbon of regularly used commands and procedures which will help in improving its utility instead of drop down menus.
2. The document rights and the work-flow management are the key features included in the server side.
3. Excel supporting SQL Server 2005, also hosts the most awaited feature of greater spreadsheet enhancements, tools for sorting, filtering and massive data visualization. The user is enabled to retrieve, analyze and share the available data in a more secured and easy manner. This is possible even across databases and enterprise applications.
4. The new system is featured with sharing workspaces, data exchange between corporate borders. By assimilating P2P facilities, it all requires only to be forwarded.
5. A feature that is still under consideration is the ‘out-of –the-box secure enterprise instant messaging” feature.
6. Intense implementation of XML will enable to system to enjoy an advanced platform. Programmers will be enhanced with the feature to generate software that would interoperate with the system without any problem.
7. Office 12 is also featured with a specially designed ‘Contextual Command Tabs’. This will be active only when the user is making changes in a document or in an Excel sheet. Once the user clicks on the particular page, the command tab will be provoked with relevant tools enabling the user to make necessary changes in that document.
8. The ‘Gallery’ option is a creative one that is endorsed to enable the user to see as to what will be the shape of the document. This will make the process of creating professional lay-out documents easily.
9. An advanced technology called ‘Live Preview’ will enhance the users to sight the changes in the format using the gallery.
10. By assimilating the custom built layouts and slide libraries, rapid creation of documents have been made possible. The Share Point feature enables the user to store their personal slides and layout in this function. The system is so well designed enabling you to access them even when you are working offline.
11. To find an email or a document, it is now easy by using the Fast Search Technology in Vista Longhorn.
12. The integrated technologies with its new supplements, has enabled the system to support multiparty audio, video and data merge as well.

The hardware requirements to support Office 12 are Windows XP Service Pack 2, or Longhorn client, or other advanced versions of windows with at least an SQL server 2000. Office 12 will also support x64 platforms but it is yet to be confirmed whether the support will be made with Office 12 or separately. Microsoft has made this Office 12 with the key objective to enable the users with superior presentation, organization skills.
